Five months after launching OLX Mall, Pakistan’s top online listings portal has shut down its eCommerce business.
OLX developed OLX Mall to expand its company and sell products as an etailer. OLX Mall was officially launched in October 2018 after a trial debut in March 2021.
The company has been partnering with prominent product manufacturers like TCL to provide a wide selection of products available on the eCommerce platform. To facilitate payments, OLX Mall had partnered with banks and fintech firms.
For its eCommerce business, OLX had set up its own logistics service called OLX Move to improve the consumer delivery experience. OLX has yet to comment on the reasons for the closure, however, it has confirmed the news.
OLX is Pakistan’s largest horizontal classifieds website for connecting merchants and buyers. PakWheels, Graana, and Rozee are competitors in the classifieds industry.
OLX Mall would have competed with Daraz in the eCommerce segment.
For Pakistan, the Emerging Markets Property Group (EMPG) merged with OLX in July 2020. The acquisition also included a $150 million investment in EMPG.
Following the merger, OLX in Pakistan was managed by EMPG’s founders, Imran Ali Khan and Zeeshan Ali Khan.
