HBL, in collaboration with VISA, has just launched mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) technology as part of its objective to enhance the country’s digital economy. In conjunction with this introduction, HBL becomes the first bank in Pakistan to offer card transactions on-site without the use of a physical point-of-sale equipment.
A contract with HBL was signed in April 2021 to bring mobile point of sale (mPOS) technology to Pakistan, and the solution is currently accessible in the market for use by courier services and e-commerce companies. Some of Pakistan’s most prominent retail and e-commerce companies have already joined up for the product, providing their customers with an alternative payment option.
Only a small number of e-commerce merchants provide their customers the opportunity to pay with a credit card at the time of delivery. This is due to the fact that POS machines are expensive, bulky, and, for the most part, stationary. HBL’s mPOS, which can be accessed through a smartphone app, brings the POS unit into the rider’s pocket. Clients who shop online can now pay for their purchases at the time of delivery using their Visa / Mastercard debit or credit card, which is accepted worldwide.
Instead of paying in cash upon delivery, HBL mPOS allows consumers to pay with their credit or debit card after receiving their items and to take advantage of all card-related points and promotions. Over the next few years, this innovative technology has the potential to become the industry standard, altering the e-commerce industry in Pakistan and transforming the country’s economy.
